'B52'
"A new cultivar name for a plant germinated and named by Henning von Schmeling. Henning selected this plant because of its vigorous growth and brightly colored traps that are up to 5.7 cm (2.25 inches) long in conditions that yield smaller traps in most other strains." Growing Carniv.Pl.:79 (2006)

Note: B52 is often noticed by its voluptuous color, its fleshy traps, but also the shape of the base of the leaf: sometimes narrow, sometimes wide, but always with a larger surface of foliage around the trap, forming like an arrow (the butt at the level of the trap, the head at the level of the pseudobulb).
Contrary to popular belief, the name does not refer to the bomb, as it is just a code abbreviation (the B standing for B. Rice, the recorder of this cultivar, and 52, the number that had been assigned to the plant).
